VNF - In a reception for Irish Ambassador to Vietnam Cáit Moran on January 28, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Nguyen Phuong Nga spoke highly of the supports of Ireland for the development of Vietnam.

In the meeting, two sides discussed the progress of the Vietnam-Ireland ties in recent years, particularly in friendly cooperation, people-to-people exchange which are implemented via a wide range of projects, including ethnic minorities supports, gender equality, nutrition for children, postwar recovery, etc. Ireland has been executing these projects in close coordination with international and Vietnamese non-governmental organizations (NGOs) such as: PLAN, Blue Dragon, The Institute for Studies of Society, Economy and Environment (iSEE), the Center for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS).

On the occasion, Ambassador Moran expressed her hope to receive the supports from VUFO in facilitating the work of Irish government’s partner NGOs in Vietnam, especially in terms of administrative procedures.

According to Irish ambassador, as Vietnam has entered a new stage of development, Ireland looks forward to further boosting the economic and trade ties, via the sign of more Memorandum of Understanding to open more opportunities for two countries’ enterprises.

In addition, the ambassador emphasized the increasing importance of the role of social-cultural diplomacy in the world today, noting that two countries can enhance cooperation in youth exchange, based on the solid foundation of educational cooperation which has been effectively conducted between two countries via students exchange programme, joint research, etc.

At the meeting, Ambassador Moran also invited VUFO President to the Irish Cultural Day, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Ireland’s Independence Day, to be held in March in Hanoi.

For her part, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga expressed her delights to receive Irish Ambassador, a close friend of Vietnam, stating that projects conducted by the Irish government in Vietnam has been largely contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam. VUFO, especially the People Aid Coordination Committee (PACCOM) is always willing to provide supports for NGOs in Vietnam dedicate their best to contributing to sustainable development of Vietnam.
