(VNF) – Bui Khac Son, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations held a reception for Ms.Claudia Liliana Naranjo, chargé d"affaires of the Embassy of Colombia in Vietnam. At the meeting, the Vice President proposed to establish the Vietnam – Colombia Friendship Association, with a view to strengthen the people-to-people links.

(VNF) – Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Bui Khac Son voiced his willingness to establish the Vietnam – Colombia Friendship Association, aiming to strengthen the people-to-people links in a reception for chargé d"affaires of the Embassy of Colombia in Vietnam, Claudia Liliana Naranjo, on April 10.

During the talk, Son briefed Naranjo about the activities of VUFO and its member organizations.

He pleasantly stated that the Vietnam – Colombia bilateral relations have been blossoming in all aspects, with multi-level exchanges and visits of leaders steadily increased.

On behalf of the VUFO executive committee, Son congratulated Colombia on their achievements in internal and external affairs over the past years.

He highlighted the ceasefire deal signed by the goverment of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) last June 23 in La Habana, which has paved the way to a full deal of ceasefire. The deal, if successfully signed, is expected to end the over 50-year civil war in the South American country.

At the same time, Son affirmed that Vietnam is ready to cooperate and exchange experiences with Colombia on post war reliefs and national reconciliation works.

Chargé d"affaires of Colombian Embassy Naranjo, for her part, thanked VUFO Vice President for taking time for the meeting, and extended thank to VUFO and the Vietnamese people for showing supports to Colombian people who suffered from the earth quake in February.

The Chargé d"affaires expected VUFO to further broadcast updates on Colombia perspective to the Vietnamese people, especially the young generation, and do their best as a bridge connecting the two countries in sports, culture exchange and economics cooperations.

With a view to foster mutual understanding and the growth of bilateral ties, Son took the ocassion to express VUFO's willingness to set up the Vietnam – Colombia friendship association.

He affirmed that VUFO would maintain close coordination with the Colombian Embassy in jointly launching Latin America region-related events in the time to come.

VUFO wishes to continue strengthening Vietnam - Colombia people-to-people links, which is part of peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world.

In response to the proposal of VUFO, the Chargé d"affaires, pledged that the Embassy of Columbia and herself will keep standing by VUFO and assisting VUFO in working with Colombian partners in coming time./.
