This is the school sponsored by Zwilling J.A Henckels in Vietnam, and they are in the first phase of the three-year project to support the underprivileged children in Hau Giang province.

Starting January 22 of 2019, saigonchildren partnered with Zwilling J.A Henckels to create a new project called “A good will toward education”. It is a three-year project to improve the learning environment of students in Hau Giang Province and to support the most needed students of the local community.

The school was built many years ago with basic technique and structures making it heavily deteriorated and unsafe for the children. The walls are ruined. The downgraded structure threatens the safety of children inside, especially in storm seasons.

‘A Good Will Toward Education’ is split into three phases: the construction of the Tan Phuoc Hung 3 Primary School, promotion of an inclusive learning environment and lastly the support of the neediest children of the community. The first phase is being implemented.

Tan Phuoc Hung 3 Primary School is under construction and will be completed before this upcoming academic year to provide a safe environment in which the children can comfortably study.

This primary school has three classrooms measured at 64 meters squared fully furnished with blackboards, chairs, tables and cabinets, a 300 meter squared playground, hygiene facilities, a school gate and a hedge.

The second-year aims at giving quality training to 30 teachers in 9 days and granted full scholarship packages or bike scholarships for the most needed students of the local community.

With the total fund of USD 100,023 (VND 2.3 billion), there will be a new school built, a training course for teachers and around 200 scholarships granted throughout three years. This project will benefit around 1,000 disadvantaged students throughout three years and around 90 students each year for the upcoming year.

The third year focuses on supporting deprived kids in the local area continue their learning path by providing them with the scholarships which cover tuition fee and school supplies including uniforms, books, and stationeries. The package also supports emergency cases like medical fee or bicycles, etc.

Saigonchildren was founded in 1992 with an aim to help disadvantaged Vietnamese children have access to adequate education and a fairer start in life. Its School Building Program and Child Development Scholarship Programme have been running for more than 25 years and has delivered over 198 schools with 534 classrooms and around 41,000 scholarships across the country./.
