1,300 fishery workers recruited to work in RoK

The Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) and the Republic of Korea’s (RoK) Ministry of Employment and Labour have agreed on organizing a contest in the fisheries industry in 2016 for Vietnamese employees who wish to work in the RoK under the Employment Permit System (EPS) programme.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) and the Republic of Korea’s (RoK) Ministry of Employment and Labour have agreed on organizing a contest in the fisheries industry in 2016 for Vietnamese employees who wish to work in the RoK under the Employment Permit System (EPS) programme.

Accordingly, the RoK side will select 1,300 employees. Candidates will undergo two exams, including a Korean language test and an assessment of skills and capabilities.

Vietnamese fishermen will have the chance to work in the RoK.

The 70-minute language test will be held from November 19th – 20th in written form, including listening and reading, with a total of 50 questions generating in a maximum score of 200 points. Those passing the test with at least 60 points will be selected.

Round two is an assessment of skills and capabilities lasting for four days, from December 22nd - 25th, including a physical examination, an assessment of basic skills and an interview. The contents include a competency assessment on practical experience and certification of experienced workers in the registered sectors.

The qualified labourers passing the second-round test will be allowed to register to work in the RoK.

After being selected by the RoK’s employers, the workers will undergo a training course on necessary knowledge and complementary skills before their departure.

Eligible participants for the contest are residents in coastal and island districts throughout the country, except districts having finished selecting labourers to work abroad in 2016 as defined in Official Letter No. 2843/LĐTBXH-QLLĐNN, dated July 29th, 2016, by the MoLISA.

Those who have completed work contracts in the RoK under the EPS programme for the fishing industry are also eligible for the contest.

The language exam fees are collected in VND and are equivalent to USD 24. The assessment of skills and capabilities is carried of free of charge.

The examination results will be announced on the website of the Centre of Overseas Labour at http://www.colab.gov.vn by November 29th./.
