Many unique and diverse cultural and artistic activities are organized to both attract tourists and serve local people to welcome the new year.

The Hanoi Tourism Department estimates that tourists to the capital reached 402.000 visitors, an increase of 65% over the same period last year.

Of which, international tourists are estimated at 72.000 visitors, an increase of 2.1 times, domestic tourists are estimated at 330 thousand visitors, an increase of 59%. Total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach nearly VND 1.5 trillion (US $61.52 million), an increase of 73% over the same period in 2023.

According to information from the Ha Long Bay Management Board, during the two days of December 30-31, 2023, Ha Long Bay welcomed nearly 22.200 visitors (of which international visitors reached about 17.000).

In 2023, Ha Long Bay welcomed nearly 2.7 million visitors, an increase of 35% compared to 2022 (international visitors reached more than 800,000, revenue is estimated at VND 780 billion (US $31.9 million), an increase of 80% compared to last year).

Targeting more than 17 million international visitors in 2024

Although there has been a significant recovery in 2023, entering 2024, the global tourism industry still faces many difficulties and challenges.

This takes place in the context of the world situation continuing to develop unpredictably, economic growth slowing down, and inflation continuing to increase. Conflicts take place in different regions, and climate change becomes more evident.

Domestically, the socio-economic situation is stable, the economy continues to grow, and inflation is controlled.

However, the risk of epidemics still exists, natural disasters, storms and floods, and impacts from climate change continue to develop abnormally, affecting production, business activities and people's lives.

According to forecasts by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), international tourism activities can fully recover by the end of 2024, on par with the level in 2019.

However, the level of recovery is not uniform across regions. The needs of international tourists are constantly changing, demanding higher product quality, experience, diversity and uniqueness.

The trend of applying information technology, artificial intelligence and digital transformation will promote new ways of tourism. Innovation in tourism activities will become increasingly evident.

With those analyzes and forecasts, by 2024, the tourism industry aims to strive to welcome 17-18 million international visitors, serving 110 million domestic tourists.
