The ceremony had the participation of representatives of agencies in the Committee mechanism, focal agencies managing INGOs' activities, Unions of Friendship Organizations at local levels, INGOs, Development Cooperation Agencies of several countries, and foreign enterprises.

Phan Anh Son, President of VUFO, Vice Chairman of the Committee said that in 2023, the international and Vietnamese economies will face many difficulties and challenges. The Party and State of Vietnam have made many efforts to continue to maintain growth momentum, control inflation, maintain macroeconomic stability, enhance social security, and continue the goals set by the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The above results were achieved thanks to valuable support from international partners, particularly foreign NGOs.

"On behalf of VUFO leaders, I would like to send my sincere thanks and appreciation for your contributions to the socio-economic development of Vietnam. Every contribution of every individual in your organizations, whether in the form of material, experience, expertise, or human resources, all contribute to changing the future and bringing a better life to the people of Vietnam. You are also messengers who help spread the image of Vietnam's country, people, policies, traditions, and human values to the world, and contribute to consolidating and cultivating friendly relations between Vietnam and progressive people in the world," said Phan Anh Son.

According to Phan Anh Son, the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam has set the goal to develop Vietnam into a developed, high-income country by 2045. To achieve that goal, Vietnam needs support and cooperation from the international community, especially in terms of resources, experience, and expertise from NGOs and donors. Such valuable support will contribute to solving challenges in sustainable poverty reduction, socio-economic development in parallel with environmental protection, and response to climate change. At the same time, such effort helps solve social problems, including war consequences and preventing future pandemics, assisting Vietnam to develop more sustainably and comprehensively.

VUFO President requested that development cooperation agencies, donors, and NGOs continue to pay attention and devote resources to support Vietnam according to priority orientations listed in the National Program on Strengthening Cooperation and Aid Mobilization for NGOs from 2019 to 2025, and the actual priority needs of ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam. VUFO will continue to strengthen the cooperative relationship between us and you as well as actively and effectively support your activities in Vietnam in the coming years.

On this occasion, VUFO awarded certificates of merit to 35 NGOs that have made particularly positive contributions to Vietnam in 2023 and 3 organizations celebrating 30 years of operation in Vietnam in 2023.

On behalf of the NGOs honored in 2023, Van Ngoc Thinh, representative of WWF, Migena Shulla, Country Director at Plan International Vietnam, and Dao Thi Hong, representative of CRS gave a speech to express gratitude and commitment to continue accompanying VUFO to effectively implement projects in Vietnam.

He also talked about the operating situation of foreign non-governmental organizations in Vietnam in 2023 and Vietnam's priorities in the coming time.

VUFO leaders hope that through the event, foreign non-governmental organizations, businesses, and international partners will have more information, thereby building aid policies that are suitable with Vietnam's development orientation.
