Disaster Risk Reduction Partnership Year-end Meeting Held in Hanoi
A Year-end Meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction partnership was organized on December 8 by the Ministry of Agricultural & Rural Development (MARD).
Attending the meeting were more than 70 delegates from the MARD, Ministry of Industry & Trade, and Ministry of National Defense; United Nations (UN) agencies in Vietnam, foreign embassies, governmental and non-governmental international organizations (NGOs) in Vietnam.

Responding to the theme “Anticipatory Actions for Resilience” by the United Nations, World Vision Vietnam in collaboration with CARE International in Vietnam and Plan International Vietnam initiated and implemented the project “Enhancing Inclusive and Gender-responsive Forecast-based Early Action” (FbEA-SEA), funded by the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).

At the meeting, on behalf of the consortium, World Vision International in Vietnam’s National Director Doseba T. Sinay shared the lessons learned and recommendations from the FbEA-SEA project.

After 21 months of implementation in areas severely affected by extreme weather in Binh Thuan and Quang Tri province, the project supported 536 households with cash allowances and provided them with tools to prepare for and prevent disaster risks. In addition, four Commanding Committees for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and rapid response teams in four project communes were supported to implement response and relief activities at the scene.

World Vision also reaffirmed their contribution to the "Ha Long Ministerial Statement on Strengthening of ASEAN Anticipatory Actions in Disaster Management” and looks forward to closer coordination and cooperation with partners.

With the high trust of the members, Pauline Tamesis, UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, has officially accepted the role of co-chair of the Partnership for the term from October 2023 to October 2026.
MARD Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep, head of the Disaster Risk Reduction Partnership, congratulated Pauline Tamesis and the ActionAid International Representative Office in Vietnam on officially becoming the 22nd international member of the Partnership.
