At the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India in Vietnam Sandeep Arya said: The widespread popularity of yoga in Vietnam demonstrates a deep understanding of the benefits of practicing yoga. It also shows Vietnamese people's habit of practicing yoga in daily life, which is in line with global trends. Yoga represents important cultural connections and people-to-people exchanges between India and Vietnam.

“In addition to large events in localities, the Indian Embassy also organizes a number of small events such as teaching breathing and yoga movements at agencies to help workers reduce stress and work more effectively,” Ambassador Sandeep Arya added.
The Ambassador hopes that in 2024, 10 more provinces and cities will organize the International Day of Yoga for the first time, popularizing the theme of the 10th International Day of Yoga in helping people, thereby creating social progress.
The series of events looks to increase understanding of the benefits of yoga, specifically improving physical health, such as finding the balance between body and spirit through breathing exercises, thereby balancing actions and thoughts.
Yoga is a 5,000-year-old tradition of ancient India that combines physical, mental, and spiritual practices in the pursuit of balance between body and mind, between people and nature. In recognition of the health benefits of yoga to the world, ten years ago the United Nations General Assembly declared that June 21 would be marked as the International Day of Yoga (IDY), an initiative proposed by India and co-sponsored by Vietnam. The immense popularity of Yoga throughout Vietnam demonstrates a wide understanding of the benefits of practicing yoga and its adoption by the friendly people of Vietnam, in line with a growing global trend. Yoga also represents an important cultural and people-to-people connection between India and Vietnam. |
