Speaking at a press conference in Hanoi on September 15th, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien said the festival will honour cinematographic works of high artistic and humane values.

The Festival promotes the spirit of cordiality and cooperation between filmmakers, delegates and guests for the development of cinema and introduces the unique works of cinema industries in the world.

Themed “Cinema-Integration and Sustainable Development”, the festival is expected to attract public attention, create a momentum for the Vietnamese film industry to grow and offer opportunities for the Vietnamese film market to seek more partners, he added.

Vietnamese cinema will participate at all categories of the Film Festival, including: length feature film, short feature film, Panorama film programme, ASEAN programme and New Vietnamese film selection programme (2014-2016).

In addition to a top award worth USD 5,000 presented for the best feature film, the festival also honours other cinematographic works with awards for the best short film, the best feature film director, the best actors and actresses in leading roles, the best film on an urban topic and others.

In the framework of the fourth HANIFF, competitions, HANIFF campus, a film project campus, conferences and exhibitions will be arranged. Films to the festival will be screened free of charge in a number of movie houses in Hanoi.

The Festival is co-directed by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ha Noi People’s Committee; jointly organized by Cinema Department, Ha Noi Department of Culture and Sports and relevant agencies/ organizations./.
