The Thua Thien Hue Union of Friendship Association (Huefo) held a meeting for students of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (HUMP) and Vets With A Missions (US-based NGO carrying-out humanitarian programs and project) with a topic “Promoting education through voluntary public health check’s missions”.

By the sponsor of United States Department of State, the U.S delegation donated 80 English – Vietnamese medical dictionary to students of HUMP to help medical student raise their English level for fulfilling job’s requirements in future and having an opened opportunity to integrate to international community.

Vets With A Mission’s representative and HUMP leaders give medical dictionary to students.

After the meeting, from April 18 to 25, 10 students and lectures of HUMP, along with American doctors and 20 experts of Vets With A Missions gave free medical examinations and free medicines to 800 poor patients, Dioxin’s victims and veterans in Thuong Lo ward, Khe Tre town, Nam Dong district and other places within this province. This health checkup supported the poor people by healing their pain.

These activities were in the framework of the educational exchange’s impulsion project funded by US State Department. Objectives of the project are sharing knowledge, experiences of study and teaching methods and the field’s cooperation through the voluntary health checks, conducted by students and lecturers of Medical universities in Central Vietnam and the America’s humanitarian aid organizations worked on medical aspect

Vets With A Mission was founded in 1988, started the process of salving the wound of war in Vietnam. After activating in 30 years, Vet With A Mission sponsored 3 billion USD for supporting some regions in Vietnam by building health station in urban areas, offering the training courses to medical staff and doctors for improving their skills. Furthermore, this organization sent rescue team to flood regions to assist Vietnam in natural disaster relief.

Workshop between Vets With A Mission and 24 trainees.

On April 15 to 17 in Nam Dong district (Thua Thien Hue), Vets With A Mission provided workshops to 24 village’s medical staffs, contained first aid (e.g CPR, dressing and transferring victims) guide.

After finishing the workshops, trainees are granted certificates and given the first aid kits for emergency treatment./.
