Cooperations in education and culture will be promoted in 2022 to mark 30 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Belarus.

President of the Vietnam - Belarus Friendship Association Nguyen Tuan Phong had a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Nikolai Borisevich in Hanoi on Jan. 11.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Nguyen Phuong Nga, Ambassador of Belarus to Vietnam Boris Goshin, and delegates from Vietnam - Belarus Friendship Association.

Nguyen Tuan Phong, President of Vietnam - Belarus Friendship Association expressed his pleasure at the visit of Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs as the two countries celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. (January 24, 1992 - January 24, 2022) and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam - Belarus Friendship Association (April 20, 1997 - April 20, 2022).

Phong said that cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus had become stronger over years. MAZ automobile factory in Hung Yen is proof of cooperation in economy, trade, and investment.

The association will coordinate with Belarus Embassy to Vietnam to hold events towards the 30th anniversary in 2022, said its president.

Nikolai Borisevich, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus said Vietnam was a big and important partner of Belarus in ASEAN. The pandemic has significantly affected bilateral cooperation, however, Belarus will further boost cooperation with Vietnam in many fields.

VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga thanked the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and the embassy for supporting the Vietnam - Belarus Friendship Association in holding recent events. She hoped the Belarusian government would assist in attracting Belarusian partners to participate in activities between the two countries, thereby fostering bilateral cooperation.

Vladimir Goshin, Ambassador of Belarus to Vietnam said he would continuing working with Vietnam in terms of education, hoping that more Vietnamese students, especially from Hung Yen, would study in Belarus.

A series of events named "Belarusian cultural days in Vietnam" will be held in 2022 to offer Vietnamese people better understandings of Belarusian culture and customers. An opening ceremony of the Consulate General of Belarus is expected to take place in Ho Chi Minh City in March 2022.

On the sideline of the meeting, VUFO held a photo exhibition to celebrate the 30 years of Vietnam-Belarus' relations.
