Algerian Firm Seeks Partnership With Vietnamese Businesses

Groupe des Frères Rahmoune (GFR), a family firm of Algeria, operates in many fields. The firm is run by the four Rahmoune brothers, with the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) held by the eldest brother Ahmed Rahmoune.

At the Mirador Palace hotel in the Chlef province of Algeria, the Groupe des Frères Rahmoune (GFR) on August 20 had an online meeting with Vietnamese Embassy and Trade Office in Algeria and Vietnamese businesses to seek partnership in the fields of automobile and motorbike import-export, packaging, agriculture, construction materials, and tourism.

Operating in the fields of commerce, industry and agriculture since 1986 in Algeria, the GFR had 12 member companies, including one specializing in automobile and motorbike import-export in Dubai.

At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Tran Quoc Khanh and Trade Counselor Hoang Duc Nhuan introduced an overview of Vietnam's economic achievements, potentials, and strengths in the fields of GFR's interest.

GFR CEO Ahmed Rahmoune expressed his admiration for the achievements that Vietnam gained over the years, and expressed his desire to establish partnerships with Vietnamese businesses.

In the field of automobiles and motorbikes, GFR worked with a representative of Truong Hai Group (Thaco) on the possibility of importing and distributing buses, tractors, and motorbikes. The group also expressed its desire to learn and cooperate with VinGroup in distributing VinFast's electric cars and motorbikes in the Algerian market.

The member companies of GFR worked with Mecanimex to seek suppliers of large-sized packages for its cement and clinker factory.

Representatives of GFR also worked with other Vietnamese firms to find suppliers of molasses to meet the import demand of more than 36,000 tonnes per year for the bakery chains of member companies.

In addition, Ahmed Rahmoune also said that the group is looking for a partner to cooperate in building an amusement water park at the group's coastal resort.

In the coming time, GFR wished to continue to cooperate with Vietnamese partners in a number of other fields such as renewable energy, aquaculture, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications.

After the meeting, the representative of Thaco group thanked the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria for organizing the event with practical significance, helping to connect businesses of the two countries.

According to Thaco, Algeria is a potential market for its strong products.
