ASEAN film week kicks off in China
The ASEAN Film Week (AFW) 2016 was officially launched on September 20th in the Chinese city of Xi’an, Shaanxi province.
AFW aims to spotlight the perse culture, art, traditions and lifestyles within the ASEAN regional bloc through film and mark the 25thanniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations.

During the film week, which will run till September 23rd, 10 films from the ASEAN member nations, including “My Nhan” (The Beauty) from Vietnam, will be screened widely at the Chinese city’s cinemas.
On the occasion, film studios from Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia will sign memoranda of understanding on movie cooperation with Chinese partners.
An initiative to organize the first ASEAN-China film festival in 2017 will also be reviewed.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) consists of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam./.
