Asia U14 Tennis Championships to be Held in Vietnam's Province

70 athletes and coaches from 14 countries will come to Vietnam and compete at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Asia 14 Championships.

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) Asia 14 and under Development Championships 2023 - Regional Qualifying event of South- South East and East Asia, will be held on January 6-19, 2024, in the northern province of Bac Ninh, VOV reported.

The tournament is organized under the coordination of the ITF, Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), and Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF). In addition, there is the support of the Bac Ninh People's Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and accompanied by Hanaka Group Joint Stock Company.

According to the schedule, the tournament will involve the participation of 70 athletes and coaches from 14 countries, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Japan, Laos, Macau (China), the Maldives, Mongolia, Singapore, Timor Leste, Sri Lanka, and the host nation Vietnam.

The four best teams will earn tickets to compete in the final round of the competition, which is expected to take place in India from April 8 to April 17.

The competition will provide Vietnamese players with an opportunity to hone their professional skills whilst learning from the experience of competing against strong foreign rivals in preparation for regional and international events.

Through the tournament, the organizing committee also wants to introduce and promote the image of rich culture, tourism, and friendly and hospitable local people to a large number of domestic and international friends, and tourists.

The tournament will take place on the tennis court complex Hanaka Paris Ocean Park in Tu Son city of Bac Ninh province.

Located in Hanaka Paris Ocean Park in Tu Son City, the complex has seven international-standard tennis courts, including one main covered tennis court and six outdoor tennis courts with a total capacity of over 5,000 seats.

The 3,000-seat main tennis court covers a floor area of 4,348 sq.m and has a height of 22.34m while the outdoor courts are built on a ground of 920sq.m each.

The main tennis court is equipped with a retractable roof and hawk-eye systems, capable of hosting national and international tournaments meeting the Association of Tennis Professionals standards. The tennis courts are rated as the top quality in Vietnam, meeting international standards, and have hosted many major tournaments such as the Davis Cup play-off round, and SEA Games 31, to name a few.

In related news, the central city of Da Nang will play host to Tiny’s Tennis Open international tournament which will take place from January 22 to January 28 next year.

The tournament has been organized by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) since 2012 and is one part of the WTA 125 tournament system which is an international series of professional women's tennis tournaments.

This marks the first time that an international women's tennis tournament will take place in Da Nang, with the event aiming to provide chances for local athletes to gain more experience from foreign friends whilst promoting the development of the sports movement in the locality.
