At the meeting, members of the RoK delegation introduced the fields of investment interest. Leaders of the Department of Planning and Investment of Ben Tre province shared information with the delegation about investment opportunities in the province, areas the province has potential to call for investment, especially the agricultural sector with high-quality products such as coconut, cattle, aquatic products and fruits.

Speaking at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Truc Son said that Ben Tre has advantages and potentials in agriculture, fisheries, energy, and commercial service development.

With the policy of attracting investment between Vietnam and countries including the RoK, Ben Tre province attaches great importance to attracting investment from RoK enterprises.

Currently, most RoK businesses investing in Ben Tre exploit the province's strengths in coconut and take advantage of the province's human resources to invest in labor-intensive industries, such as apparel. The province also plans to build industrial parks.

Nguyen Truc Son expressed his wish that RoK businesses would pay more attention and have opportunities for the two sides to foster development in the future. There will be cultural, friendship, and people-to-people activities to promote investment, trade and cultural activities of both sides.

Regarding legislative work, the province hopes that the Vietnam-RoK Parliamentary Friendship Group will have activities to exchange experiences and strengthen bilateral relations.

Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam was grateful for the attention, cooperation of the delegation of RoK experts and businesses in Vietnam. Although the Covid-19 is complicated, they has had active activities, especially connecting RoK and Ben Tre businesses, connecting RoK NGOs in Ben Tre.

Tam expressed his respect and thanks to the Republic of Korea in 2021 for its help in introducing to the UNESCO General Assembly to recognize the cultural celebrity Nguyen Dinh Chieu of Ben Tre.

He also said that the RoK has cooperated and helped Ben Tre province to build a 500-bed hospital. The activities of RoK enterprises investing in the province have contributed about US$800 million in export value. Ben Tre has created good conditions for businesses, such as supporting Covid-19 vaccination, helping businesses recruit workers.

Nguyen Truc Son also expressed his hope to continue cooperation in the future, for mutual benefits, towards the 30th anniversary of friendship cooperation between Vietnam and the RoK.

Kwon Jae Haeng, head of the Korea Vietnam Economic Cooperation Committee, thanked the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, departments and agencies of Ben Tre province for welcoming the delegation.

Before coming to Ben Tre, he and others had researched and thought a lot about celebrating the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-RoK cooperation. He hopes that through this visit, he will be able to plan the most effective investment and connection for sustainable development, and celebrate the 30th anniversary of cooperation between the two countries.
