"Victory Vietnam" captures the vibrant atmosphere in Stockholm, the Swedish capital, on the day Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) was liberated—a historic milestone that marked the end of the war in Vietnam.
Through vivid images of Swedish citizens celebrating in the streets, singing songs of peace, and expressing profound solidarity with the Vietnamese people, the film beautifully illustrates the deep affection Sweden holds for Vietnam. Furthermore, it features invaluable footage and documents highlighting the political and material support extended by the international solidarity movement to Vietnam during its struggle for independence and national reunification.

According to the Vietnam News Agency, Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam Johan Ndisi, speaking at the event, remarked: "Through the lens of the film, we witness not only the courage and resilience of Vietnam, but also the profound humanistic values of peace and international solidarity. By entrusting this film to the Vietnam Film Institute, we hope to inspire future generations to reflect on the lessons of history and strive towards a future built on respect, understanding, and cooperation."

Bring Vietnam's historical values and patriotism to Swedish friendsOn April 24, the Vietnamese Embassy to Sweden held a press conference and screened a film in Stockholm.
According to the Vietnam News Agency, speaking at the press conference, Ambassador Tran Van Tuan reflected on the historical context prior to 1975, the significant developments of the Great Spring Victory, the pivotal role of diplomacy in securing this historic triumph, and the nation's remarkable achievements over the past 50 years. The Ambassador underscored that these milestones form a solid foundation for the era of rapid development and growth of the Vietnamese people in the 21st century—dubbed the Era of National Growth. The program also featured insightful exchanges with Swedish experts and friends, who shared their perspectives on the invaluable support extended by the Swedish Government and people to Vietnam during the war and the subsequent post-war reconstruction period. The speakers also expressed admiration for Vietnam's remarkable progress and achievements in recent decades. The event concluded with a screening of the documentary Manh Ky Uc (produced by VTV4), which vividly portrays the sacrifices, contributions, and resilience of previous generations in the quest for national liberation and reunification. The film carries a poignant message of tolerance and reconciliation, emphasizing the bonds between veterans and the younger generations on both sides in the aftermath of the devastating war. |
