Biggest wedding ever for people with disabilities at pagoda
Fifty couples with disabilities from HCM City were married in a group wedding at Giac Ngo Pagoda in HCM City’s District 10 on Friday.
Most of them have impaired mobility, or are visually or hearing impaired.
Each couple was presented a wedding package worth VND20 million (US$860), including a wedding table of vegetarian food, two wedding rings, two ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress), flowers, make-up, hairdressing, a wedding photo album, a tea set, a Buddhist book, and a Buddha statue, among other services.
In addition, the couples were also provided a ride by cyclos from Hoa Binh (Peace) Park in District 10 to Ben Thanh Market in District 1.
About 400 volunteers took part in preparing for the event, organised by the Dao Phat Ngay Nay Fund.
The Viet Nam Record Organisation (VietKings) awarded a certificate and trophy to the organiser for holding the largest-ever group wedding for people with disabilities at a pagoda in Viet Nam.
