Le Kim Anh, chairwoman of the Hanoi Women's Union and the city's Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association recently led a delegation visit and present scholarships to Cambodian students studying at Friendship school 80, Son Tay town, Hanoi.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony, Kim Anh emphasized: Over the years, the Hanoi Women's Union has and the city's Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association have had many activities contributing to maintaining, consolidating and developing the special friendship and solidarity relationship between the two countries, including practical activities to support, take care of and help Cambodian students studying in Hanoi.

In particular, in the past time, the friendship association has joined hands with the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee in Hanoi to present 164 gifts for Cambodian students who are studying in 7 Hanoi-based universities.

Before the complex situation of the Covid -19 pandemic, not only in Vietnam and Cambodia but many countries around the world were severely affected by the deadly disease, including Vietnamese students, as well as foreign students, are studying and doing research at schools in the capital.

To take care of and support the students, the Hanoi's Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association, as well as many agencies in the political system in the city and mass organizations, have held many active activities to help children overcome the pandemic and study peacefully.

On this occasion, the friendship association awarded 10 scholarships, each worth VND 1 million, to Cambodian students. Although just came to study at the Friendship School 80 since April, they have worked hard, studied diligently and achieved good results in Vietnamese language classes.

The scholarships awarded by the association are small gifts, but will encourage them to try harder so that in the future, they will study earnestly and well observe the regulations on pandemic prevention to ensure safety during the school days in Hanoi.

Kim Anh also took the ocassion to thank teachers and staff of Son Tay town’s Friendship school 80 who have stepped up to take on the role of host parents providing care for Cambodian students in the school.

The students expressed there feeling: Today, we are here to receive the care and affections from the school, uncles and aunties from the Hanoi's Vietnam - Cambodia friendship Association and Women's Union. It is a priceless encouragement for students who are studying faraway from home like us.

The students were touched by the affection of the Hanoi Women's Union and the city's Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association who visited and offered scholarships on the occasion of the new school year; and promise to pursue their studies energetically; at the same time, cultivate the friendship and solidarity of the two countries.

"We will forever keep the memories and warm feelings of the members of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association, the Hanoi Women's Union and the school's teachers, in our hearts," the students shared.

According to Chu Kim Phuong, vice principal of the school, every year, the school receives about 100 Cambodian students to study here. In the face of the pandemic situation, the school still ensures an online learning environment and safe dormitory for students. Currently, 100% of them have had 2 doses of Covid-19 vaccine. However, living far from home, students cannot avoid homesickness, missing their parents and families. That's why when being visited and encouraged by the Women's Union, the students feel like they are, like the mothers and sisters.

For many years, all activities of the school have always received the attention, companionship, sharing and encouragement of women, mothers, and officers of the Hanoi Women's Union, Phuong added.

On the same day, a delegation visited and handed over gift packages to a group of disadvantaged children residing in Thien An Shelter, Tan Xa Commune, Thach That District, Hanoi.
