Deputy Prime Minister (PM), Vu Van Ninh has agreed with the proposal of the Southwest Standing Steering Committee on the overall programme and presiding component of the Mekong Delta Green Tourism Week 2015.

The Deputy PM assigned the Southwest Standing Steering Committee to coordinate with the Can Tho municipal People’s Committee to announce the overall programme to related ministries, sectors and localities.

According to the Southwest Standing Steering Committee, the event will see the participation of several Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) countries such as Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar and some foreign organisations and businesses.

The event is expected to make strong changes to regional tourism development in the near future, significantly contributing to regional socio-economic development.

Through the week, provinces and cities in the region will have oppotunities to promote their tourism strengths, producing tourism potentials and special and specific tourism products in combination with protecting the ecological environment and ensuring sustainable tourism development.

The week is scheduled to take place from June 18th-24th with a series of conferences and seminars focusing on promoting the region’s tourism potential, boosting investment in green tourism, and seeking solutions to regional collaboration in the field./.
