Celebrating 234th Anniversary of France's National Day in Ho Chi Minh City

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung, chairwoman of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City said that Vietnam and France have a relationship with a long tradition, and deep historical and cultural ties.
2023 is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France (1973-2023), 10 years of the two countries upgraded their strategic partnership (2013-2023).
The two countries achieved many positive results in trade, investment, cultural cooperation, education and people-to-people diplomacy. Vietnam and France shared similar views and interests on international issues.
Regarding local cooperation, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung assessed that this relationship has its own characteristics as in the Vietnam-France relationship since the early 90s of the twentieth century.
According to statistics, there are over 38 French localities, and 18 provinces and cities in Vietnam currently participating in 240 decentralized cooperation projects.
The projects are mainly in health, education, heritage conservation, the Francophone community, rural development, and sustainable development.
Typically, the fact that Ho Chi Minh City has a good relationship with Lyon City and the Rhône-Alpes region has become a pillar, contributing to strengthening the relationship and solidarity between the two peoples.

At the ceremony, Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City Emmanuelle Pavillon-Grosser thanked the Vietnam-France Friendship Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations for holding the ceremony celebrating the National Day of the French Republic in Ho Chi Minh City.
