Vietnam is one of the countries having the highest rate of children with congenital heart disease. There are approximately 16,000 babies born with this defect, according to VCF’s estimation. If treatments are not taken in time, thousands of children will pass way before turning 18. Depending on the situation, heart surgery cost varies from 50 to 250 million VND, which is too expensive for poor families.
RUN FOR THE HEART is the annual charity run program organized by Gamuda Land and Heartbeat Vietnam to raise fund for poor children nationwide to receive heart surgeries.
This year, in order to organize the event responsibly to prevent the risk of COVID-19 outbreak in the community, RUN FOR THE HEART 2020 has been held entirely on cyberspace, in grand new format with many exciting interactive activities by the participations of more than 30 famous artists of Vietnamese showbiz.
Launched in last November, the event was the result of a partnership between its organisers and Vietrace365, one of the most popular online virtual race platforms for the running community in Vietnam, which offers race courses nationwide.
A highlight of the race this year was fundraising through a series of mini gameshows broadcast live on its official communication channels, which were joined by a large number of celebrities./.
