The 13th Vietnam Trade Union Congress was a great success in completing the set tasks. What is the role of communication work in this Congress?

Determined to be the work of "paving the way" and raising awareness, the organization of propaganda and communication of the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Unions was implemented early by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in many forms and multimedia. Along with oral propaganda and visual promotion, communication work through the press and social networks using digital platforms is emphasized.

During the three days of the event, there were nearly 500 works of many journalistic genres reflecting the activities of the Congress. Through the channels of the press, union members, workers and people can get quick and accurate information about the Congress from many angles, such as the results of the Union's activities over the past five years, directions, tasks, solutions in the coming term, recommendations of union members, workers and trade unions to the Party and State.

Pressworks conveyed truthfully and vividly the Congress with the motto "Innovation-Democracy-Solidarity-Development.” They conveyed goals, directions, and solutions to innovate Trade Union organization and activities, building a comprehensively strong Vietnam Trade Union.

Assessing the contribution of the press, at the press conference held on the morning of December 3, Nguyen Dinh Khang, president of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, thanked the leaders, reporters, and editors of the press agencies.

They accompanied the Trade Union organization, sharing, reflecting and providing timely information on all contents of the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Unions.

The success of the 13th Vietnam Trade Union Congress in general and communication work in particular partly demonstrated the methodical implementation of trade unions at all levels. How is this work organized?

The success of the propaganda work of the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Unions is the result of the timely and effective attention and direction of the Central Propaganda Department, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. It also demonstrates the high responsibility of trade unions at all levels as well as the awareness of each union member and worker.

In order to encourage and arouse the will, aspirations, and the pride of the working class, and widely propagate trade union organizations throughout society, the Central Propaganda Department issued Instruction No. 117/HD-BTGTW (October 2, 2023) to provide information about the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Unions, term 2023-2028. Implementing Guideline 117-HD/BTGTW, party committees of 57 provinces, ministries and branches issued documents directing propaganda of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union. This helped the communication work about the Congress to be implemented systematically and extensively on all media and communication platforms, spreading the important political event of the working class and the Trade Union organization.

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issued Plan No. 368/KH-TLD, dated October 18, 2023, providing information about the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Unions. They aimed to propagate deeply and widely among cadres, union members, workers, civil servants, laborers and the entire society about the guiding spirit of the Party and State regarding the labor and trade union movement. They provided information about the main contents of the 13th Congress, the glorious historical tradition of 94 years of construction and development, outstanding achievements and contributions of workers, officials, laborers and Vietnam Trade Unions to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.

This is the premise for the press system and labor federations of provinces and cities, industry unions, provinces, and departments to carry out coordinated propaganda.

In addition, labor federations of provinces, cities, and industry unions coordinated with the press of provinces, cities, and industries to tell the life stories of union members and workers. They reflected activities of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers, creating a true and colorful picture of the contributions and roles of Vietnam Trade Unions.

In addition, the success of the propaganda about the Congress is also based on the foundation of the persistent process of implementing the program "Promoting Vietnam Trade Union communication until 2023" of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor with many breakthroughs, contributing to the image of the Trade Union organization.

I think that through propaganda and press activities, the whole society helped understand more about the Trade Union organization. This creates consensus and excitement for workers and union members to look forward to a Trade Union Congress "Innovation-Democracy-Solidarity-Development."

What are the main contents of communication work during the term of the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Unions in the period 2023-2028?

During the period 2023-2028, the Vietnam Trade Union sets a target to have 85% or more of union members and workers study and thoroughly grasp the Party's guidelines and resolutions, the State's policies and laws related to labor and unions. The Union encourages at least 65% of workers at enterprises to participate in learning to improve their qualifications and professional skills. This is a goal that has many challenges but is also a driving force for propaganda and communication work to have new activities.

To achieve this goal, Trade Union communication work will continue to be innovated and strengthened, improving the effectiveness of propaganda and dissemination of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, especially those related to workers. The Trade Union deeply communicates the process of organizational and operational innovation, protecting and deepening the values formed over nearly a century. This strongly spreads the position, role, and mission of the Trade Union organization and its contributions to the development of the country, building trust, maintaining and strengthening the close relationship between trade union organizations, trade union officials, union members and workers.

Propaganda work associated with studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style among union members, workers, and labor will continue to innovate in content, methods, form, and implementation. The Union focuses on effectively implementing solutions to protect the Party's ideological foundation, and fight against wrong and hostile views in the new situation. The Trade Union continues to foster and improve the communication capacity of union officials at all levels, diversify the forms of communication products. They increase the proportion of digitalized communication products about Trade Union organizations and activities to connect, spread positive and humane information, repel bad and toxic information.
