The concert officially opened a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany (1975 – 2025). The program was organized by the Goethe-Institut Ho Chi Minh City and AHK in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet, Symphony, Orchestra, and Opera, under the patronage of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany.
In this one-night show in Ho Chi Minh City, the audience enjoyed a series of songs with beautiful melodies by Kurt Weil, one of the most influential composers of the 20th century, through the voice of stage actress, singer, and musician Katharine Mehrling, who has won the Golden Curtain Award (Der Goldene Vorhang) for the most outstanding actress in Berlin, Germany seven times.

Press conference to introduce the concert. |
Renowned German composer Kurt Weill is one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. His unique musical legacy is the crystallization of a turbulent life.
Weill's music bridges the gap between the classical and the popular, reflecting the humanistic spirit, fighting injustice, and calling for mutual understanding. His works carry artistic values and cultural heritage and continue to influence today strongly.
One of the most anticipated performances was the duet “Beo Dat May Troi” (Floating Water-Ferns And Wandering Clouds), a Vietnamese folk song, performed by Katharine Mehrling and Pham Khanh Ngoc, accompanied by a symphony orchestra. This is also Katharine Mehrling's second performance in Vietnam, following the success of last week's performance at the Hoan Kiem Theater in Hanoi, where she collaborated with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra and other artists from the capital.
