Conquer The Majestic Putaleng Mountain In Northern Vietnam
Putaleng is in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range in Ta Leng Commune, Lai Chau Province's Tam Duong District. Its height is third to Fansipan (3,143 meters) in the neighboring province of Lao Cai and Pusilung (3,080 meters) in Lai Chau.
The slopes leading to the Putaleng Mountain Peak are covered with green forests with various types of vegetation ranging from 100-year-old trees to dense bamboo forests. The mountain also has lots of waterfalls and streams for trekkers to take a dip.

In Putaleng, the most beautiful azalea hill is located on the road between Si Thau Chai and Ta Leng (near Si Thau Chai shack). This is where the flowers bloom thickest and most beautifully. Tourists will climb from here for one more day to reach the 3,049m high Putaleng Peak.
The best time to admire the azalea flowers is when dawn has just broken through the morning mist and after the sunset. Azalea is a genus of plants with about 850 – 1,000 species. This flower is a symbol of intense vitality. Hoang Lien mountain range (Sa Pa) is the place where many species of azaleas grow naturally in Vietnam.

Azaleas are in full bloom with different colors of white, yellow, pink, red, and purple, making anyone who comes to this place feel like they are lost in a fairy tale land in mid-air. In the middle of the sky, they can relax their body and mind, listen to the sound of streams, birds singing, and the wind blowing, and temporarily forget the chaos of life.
There are four starting points for the trek to the peak, with two located in Si Thau Chai Village and Ho Thau Village in Ho Thau Commune; while the two others are in Sin Chai Village in Giang Ma Commune and Ta Leng Village in Ta Leng Commune. All of them are in Tam Duong District, Lai Chau Province.

Among them, departing from Si Thau Chai Village is said to be the most challenging option because the trekking distance spans more than 16 km per leg, with many steep slopes, and the trekkers even have to use swinging ropes and climbing ladders in some stages. In return, trekkers are rewarded with more magnificent views of the natural landscape.
On their way to Putaleng Mount, trekkers can relax on large flat rocks to hear the sound of the wind blowing through the dense bamboo forest.

They will also be awed and amazed by the iridescent forests covered with blooming azalea flowers glowing in the sunlight.
Lai Chau is situated in a high mountainous region in the North West of Vietnam, northern of Da River. Its neighbors are Yunnan (China) on the north, Laos on the west, Lao Cai Province on the north-east, and Dien Bien, and Son La provinces on the south.
