The construction of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre headquarters under the Ministry of National Defence was inaugurated on June 4th in Thach Hoa Commune, Hanoi with a total investment of over VND215 billion.

This is a campus of architectural constructions with modern technology being built on an area of some 8,890 square metres. It includes the management building, hall building, cadres’ and lecturers’ buildings, soldiers’ buildings, experts’ and foreign trainees’ buildings, medical health training area and the sports club.

When completed in 2017, the construction is expected to effectively serve the implementation of Vietnam’s tasks in joining peacekeeping activities of the United Nations (UN) as it will be responsible for managing, training and carrying out Vietnamese forces participating in the missions.

Furthermore, the construction is also a place for training the forces for humanitarian support and natural disaster rescue in the region.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Lieutenant-general Le Chiem, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, the Vietnam Peacekeeping centre established on 27th May 2014 was an important milestone affirming that Vietnam is a responsible country member within the international community for a future of peace, cooperation, stability and development. “The building of the centre headquarters ensures adequate facilities for direction, management and training work, gradually making it the centre of regional and international standard./.
