Construction of the Lao Army’s School of Political Theory began in Vientiane on January 19th, as a gift from the Vietnamese Party, State and People’s Army to the Lao side.

Spanning 20 hectares in Nakhoai ward, Xaysettha district, the project will be built at a total cost of VND 270 billion (USD 11.8 million) and is designed to accommodate 400 soldiers.

The construction of the project is expected to be completed in September 2019.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Party Central Committee's Secretary and Deputy Minister of Lao National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Vilay Lakhamphong stressed that the School of Political Theory is one of the strategic educational facilities of the Lao People’s Army.

Deputy Minister Lakhamphong, who is also Director of the General Department of Politics of the Lao People's Army, conveyed his gratitude for the treasured support from the Vietnamese Party, State and People’s Army for the construction of the school, as well as for the human resource training and the building of the infrastructure system in Laos in general.

He also expressed his belief that the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries and armies would be developed further./.
