Organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka and the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka, the event was a part of a series of activities in response to the Project "Day to Honor Vietnamese Language in Overseas Vietnamese Communities 2023-2030" and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs's plan to implement the Day to Honor Vietnamese Language in 2025.
According to the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka, the conference drew the attention of nearly 1,000 people, including approximately 50 delegates attending in person in Fukuoka, 105 delegates who registered online from 20 countries and territories, and nearly 800 people watching via digital platforms. The delegates came from many universities in Vietnam, Japan, the Republic of Korea, researchers, lecturers, representatives of Vietnamese associations, and many parents whose children are learning Vietnamese.

In her remark, Vietnamese Consul General in Fukuoka, Vu Chi Mai, highlighted the significance of the Vietnamese language for the more than 600,000 Vietnamese people in Japan, particularly in the Kyushu, Okinawa, and Central-South Japan regions, which are home to about 110,000 individuals. She emphasized that teaching and preserving Vietnamese is not only essential for maintaining cultural identity but also contributes to establishing a "global Vietnamese language ecosystem," where the language is preserved, sustainably developed, and internationally integrated.
Ngo Thi Thanh Mai, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, reaffirmed the commitment of the Vietnamese community in Japan and worldwide to preserving their mother tongue through language classes, centers, and cultural activities. She commended the initiative to organize a course on Vietnamese language and culture for children in Kyushu, Japan, led by the Consulate General and the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka, describing it as a valuable gift for young generations living far from their homeland.

During the event, delegates shared various community-driven initiatives and exchanged practical experiences. Experts from Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, Poland, Laos, Sweden, and Sri Lanka presented on models, methods, and tools designed to support Vietnamese language education for children of Vietnamese origin abroad. These included modern approaches to compiling teaching materials, leveraging digital technology, integrating arts education, training native-speaking teachers, and fostering a learning environment closely tied to local cultural life.
As part of the event, the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka introduced a project to compile Vietnamese books for children in Japan and established the "Network for Teaching Vietnamese Language and Culture Abroad" to connect lecturers, experts, and parents worldwide.
Immediately following the conference, a training course on Vietnamese teaching methods was held, featuring the participation of experts from Vietnam and Japan.
