AI app to warn COVID risk developed by students won prizes
BeCaked - a product developed by 2 Vietnamese students, Vo Quang Nghia and Nguyen Quang Duc to predict COVID-19 development won the Eureka 2020 Awards (an award held to honor students who make a considerable contribution to scientific research activities of Vietnam) and has been transferred by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to further develop, reported by Thanh Nien.
Could not go to school because of the Covid-19 outbreak since the beginning of the year, Vo Quang Nghia, a young student in the field of health, felt that he needed to do something to help the community, so the idea about BeCaked began to take shape. Nguyen Quang Duc, who is good in mathematics and information technology, helped his friend to come up with proper algorithms for the app's function. He used AI-based technology to make sure the app would come up with the best predictions.
According to Nghia, the team did a test with the app within a month and found that the data predicted by the app was correct compared to what actually happened. Not only experimenting with the situation of Vietnam, the team also found out that when experimenting with countries around the world, the results given are completely coincidental.
