Vietnam reaches the 24th day without community infection

The National Steering Committee's 6 am news on September 26 states that there are no new cases of COVID-19 in Vietnam. Up to now, Vietnam has gone through 24 consecutive days without recording cases of COVID-19 in the community.

Currently, Vietnam has successfully treated 1,000 patients. Among the patients under treatment, 22 patients tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus 1 to 3 times.

According to the National Steering Committee, the prevention and control of COVID-19 will face more difficulties as the winter comes, creating favorable weather conditions for the virus to develop and spread. In order to continue the implementation of the dual goal of fighting against the pandemic and promoting socio-economic development, the Ministry of Health recommends citizens and localities to continue implementing measures to prevent COVID-19.

The last severe COVID-19 case in the North healed

On the afternoon of September 25, the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases announced the cure for 5 Covid-19 cases, including the last serious patient in the North, according to Vietnamnet.

The patient number 867, 63 years old, lived in Hai Duong, was hospitalized on August 9 when lung damage was up to 60%. The patient has a severe prognosis due to underlying hypertension and multiple etiology of bacteria other than SARS-CoV-2. Patient 867 is a special case as he has repeatedly had negative and positive test results for SARS-CoV-2 throughout the treatment period. On September 24, he had 3 negative tests and was discharged according to the standards of the Ministry of Health.

Thus, all severe patients in the North in the new period (from July 25) were healed and discharged from the hospital. Dr. Pham Van Phuc emphasized that these severe patients have the same disease progression as some severe cases in the previous period. However, the experience accumulated during the first outbreak has helped doctors greatly in their treatment.

Vietnam increases production of Covid-19 test kits as commercial flights reopen

With over 20,000 passengers expected to arrive in Vietnam each month as commercial flights resume, manufacturers of test kits are increasing their production, VN Express cited.

Viet A Technologies Joint Stock Company, the country's biggest producer of the kits, is producing 100,000 a day, both real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) kits and antigen rapid test kits with matching sensitivity, and can increase it to five times if necessary. The company has supplied nearly 90 percent of all Covid-19 test kits to medical centers and hospitals during the two waves of Covid-19.

The government has given the green light for flying to mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand, but airlines are grappling with practical issues and have yet to finalize their schedules.

Vietnamese citizens brought home safely from over 30 countries

More than 340 Vietnamese citizens were brought home from over 30 countries in Europe, Africa and Latin America on a flight on September 24-25. The flight was arranged by Vietnamese representative offices in those regions, Vietnamese authorities, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and local relevant agencies.

The same day, 340 citizens were repatriated from Israel on a flight arranged by Vietnamese authorities, the Embassy of Vietnam in Israel and Vietnam Airlines together with Israeli agencies.

In a bid to ensure safety for citizens as well as prevent the spread of COVID-19, measures to ensure security, safety and hygiene were strictly implemented during the flight.The flight crew and all passengers were brought to quarantine sites upon their arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City and Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi.
