The Ministry of Health said that from April 8, vaccination facilities across the country digitally signed the Covid-19 vaccination certificate. This is for the Ministry of Health to issue "vaccine passports" to people, which is expected to start from April 15, 2022.

Regarding "vaccine passports" to serve the travel needs of people, especially going abroad, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan said that on December 20, 2021, the Ministry of Health issued Decision No. Decree No. 5772/QD-BYT on the form and process for the application of the " passport vaccine ."

The Ministry of Health has coordinated with the Ministry of Information and Communications to build a function on the Covid-19 vaccination management platform and systems for digital signing and issuing of "vaccine passports."

Up to now, the systems have been generally completed and are ready for the application of "vaccine passports" to people across the country.

1. What is an electronic "passport vaccine"?

Currently, an electronic "vaccine passport" is an electronic certificate of Covid-19 vaccination issued by the Ministry of Health to people, using standards issued by the World Health Organization and the European Union.

2. Expiration of the electronic "Vaccine Passport"

The validity of the electronic "vaccine passport" is 12 months from the date of issue. This is a technical solution to ensure safety and security of information. When it expires, the system will automatically generate a new QR code.

3. Can I get an electronic "vaccination passport" with 1 dose of Covid-19 vaccine?

An electronic "vaccine passport" is an electronic certificate of Covid-19 vaccination. Therefore, no matter how many doses people have, they will still be issued a "vaccine passport." The vaccine passport will have information about the type of vaccine, the number of doses.

4. What technical standard does Vietnam's electronic "vaccine passport" use, and how many countries use this standard?

Vietnam's electronic "vaccine passport" uses standards issued by WHO and EU. This standard is currently being used in 62 countries and will be used by more countries in the near future.

5. In which countries can Vietnam's electronic "vaccine passport" be used?

The Ministry of Health is responsible for promulgating forms, procedures and issuing "vaccine passports". To know which countries the "vaccine passport" is recognized and used in, people need to follow information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

6. What do I need to do to get a "Vaccine Passport"?

People who have been vaccinated facility and have their data updated on the system by the system by the system, authenticated with the information of the national population database, will be issued a "vaccine passport" without having to do any procedures.

7. Where can I find my "vaccine passports"?

In case people vaccinate at different vaccination facilities, the facilities are responsible for signing the certificate. The Ministry of Health will issue a "vaccine passport" including information about injections. People do not need to do any procedures.

10. Process of issuing "Vaccine Passport"

According to Decision No. 5772/QD-BYT dated December 20, 2021 of the Ministry of Health, the vaccine passport issuing process includes 3 steps:

Step 1: Vaccination facilities review, verify and authenticate vaccination information with the national population database, according to the guiding documents of the Ministry of Health.

Step 2: Vaccination facilities digitally sign Covid-19 vaccination data on the Covid-19 Vaccine Portal. The data will be sent to the management system for the certification of vaccination against Covid-19 vaccine.

Step 3: The Department of Preventive Medicine plays its role as a concentrated unit in charge of digitally signing the certificate of vaccination against Covid-19.

People can view vaccine passports on the "So suc show dien tu", PC-COVID application or look up on the website announced by the Ministry of Health in the near future.

11. When is the expected time for Vietnam to issue vaccine passports across the country?

On April 8, 2022, vaccination facilities began digitally signing Covid-19 vaccination certificates. From April 15, the Ministry of Health will issue "vaccine passports" to people.

12. Can people who do not have or have lost a paper vaccination certificate be issued an electronic "vaccination passport"?
