Cuba Works With Vietnam to Further Develop Health Sector

Speaking at the ceremony, Truong Thi Hien, president of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City, said that after more than half a century, solidarity, traditional friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba are consolidated and developed in all fields including politics, economics and trade, defense and security, agriculture, construction, education, health, biotechnology, transportation, and sports.

In particular, economic, trade and investment cooperation continues to develop steadily as trade turnover has shown encouraging growth, aiming to bring bilateral trade turnover to US$500 million by 2023.

According to Truong Thi Hien, 2023 is the year marking the 70th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Barracks by the Cuban people, and the 50th anniversary of Cuban President Fidel Castro's visit to the liberation zone of Southern Vietnam in Quang Tri.

Exchange activities between Vietnam and Cuba are consistently taking place.

The Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association has coordinated to organize many activities to strengthen and develop the friendship between the people of the two countries.

In the coming time, the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City commits to working closely with the Cuban Consulate General to organize friendship, cultural and artistic events between the people of the two countries.

Ariadne Feo Labrada, consul general of the Republic of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, said that in 2023, Vietnam and Cuba achieved many important results in cooperative relations.

In particular, Cuba began to cooperate with Ho Chi Minh City in the field of basic health care and implement the family doctor model. In the coming time, Cuba hopes to continue to cooperate and realize the cooperation agreement to support Ho Chi Minh City in this field.

Ariadne also affirmed that Cuba is committed to making efforts to restore, and develop economic, trade, and investment relations with Vietnam, and coordinate with Vietnam in promoting youth exchange activities.

Cuba promotes good traditions and fosters special solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
