HCM City's Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association Works to Promote Cuba to Young People
The Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association's chapter in Ho Chi Minh City (VCFA HCMC) will continue to promote people-to-people diplomacy activities to increase understanding between the people of Vietnam and Cuba as well as between HCM City and Cuban localities in particular, contributing to further intensifying the special relations between the two countries.
This orientation was approved at the third congress of the association for the 2023-2028 tenure held in HCM City on December 28, VNA reported.

Accordingly, the VCFA HCMC will focus on promoting communication activities, including setting up a YouTube channel named "Cuba - The Beautiful Island", to introduce the country and people of Cuba to people from all walks of life, especially young people, and the importance of the Vietnam-Cuba relations in the new situation.
Activities to strengthen economic cooperation between HCM City and Cuban localities and partners will be also organized.
The association will continue to coordinate effectively with the Cuban Consulate General in HCM City in implementing people-to-people diplomacy activities.
During the past term, the VCFA HCMC promoted traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, especially on anniversaries of Cuba's historical events, commemorating Vietnam-Cuba relations; organizing friendly exchange activities on major holidays such as organizing poster creation competition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the death of Che Guevara, the Hiron victory, inaugurating bus posters marking the 50th anniversary of Cuban President Fidel Castro's first visit to Vietnam, among others.
In addition, the association also participated in delegations visiting Cuba and welcomes Cuban delegations, trade promotion and cultural exchange activities between the two countries.

In her speech at the congress, Cuban Consul General in HCM City Ariandne Feo Labrada said the VCFA HCMC is a core force in developing the special solidarity between Cuba and Vietnam, adding that the association has supported and organized many activities to strengthen and develop the relations between the two countries’ people.
She thanked the VCFA HCMC for its support for the Cuban Consulate General, reaffirming her commitment to join efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) and the VCFA HCMC to increase activities to further strengthen the special traditional friendship between the two countries and their people.

At the congress, delegates elected the association's Executive Committee for the 2023-2028 term including 19 members, led by Truong Thi Hien as chair of the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association in HCM City for the new term.
On this occasion, the city People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to one collective and three individuals who have made many contributions to people-to-people diplomacy.
