Vietnam - Cuba support each other in development

The Cuban Ambassador has remarked on the enduring relationship between Vietnam and Cuba. Originating in the early 1960s, the rapport between Presidents Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh laid the groundwork for a strong, supportive connection between their countries and citizens. This bond has grown into a profound friendship marked by affection, assistance, and reciprocal esteem. The 1960s witnessed a considerable fortification of this relationship, mirroring the distinct challenges and adversities faced by each nation, highlighting the period's critical demand for shared support.

Vietnam and Cuba enjoy a robust relationship that extends across various domains. Both nations have identified and cultivated their respective strengths, which will persist in enhancing their bilateral ties.

Cuba has established a robust healthcare system that garners global recognition. The country has achieved significant progress in the health sector, advancing the science behind the production of high-tech drugs and novel medications. Additionally, Cuba has cultivated comprehensive education and sports systems. Cuba is eager to share its expertise in these areas to enhance the ongoing development of bilateral relations with other nations. On the other hand, Vietnam is emerging as an economic force within the region and is known globally for its prowess in food exportation and production. These competencies not only earn worldwide acknowledgment but also bolster the potential for expanding bilateral ties between Vietnam and Cuba.

Vietnam is currently providing the expertise necessary to ensure food security and is aiding in the pursuit of foreign investment attraction. It is noteworthy that Vietnam is the sole nation granted a concession by Cuba to operate within the Mariel Special Development Zone, a strategic location aimed at drawing foreign investment—a domain where Vietnam boasts considerable experience. Furthermore, Vietnam's proficiency in renewable energy is something we anticipate will be sustained in Cuba. Additionally, Cuba is keen to gain insights from Vietnam in other promising sectors, including food production, coffee cultivation, and aquaculture.

The Ambassador expressed hope for Cuba's support in Vietnam's pharmaceutical industry development through technology transfer, student exchange promotion, and training assistance. With the mutual benefits that such cooperation would entail, it is believed that both nations could attain greater success regionally and globally.

"Cuba and Vietnam, both led by their respective Communist Parties, aim to create a more equitable society. This shared goal serves as a foundation for the two nations to exchange experiences, accomplishments, and developmental strategies tailored to their unique national characteristics. The rich dialogue between Cuba and Vietnam spans numerous fields and subjects. The forthcoming visit is set to be a historic event that underscores this exchange," stated the Ambassador.

"Vietnam is both a brother and a friend. It stands as a testament to a nation that, despite the ravages of war and poverty, has confronted every adversity, war, blockade, and threat to progress. Vietnam has triumphed over its adversaries and now plays a significant role in the international arena. This fills us with joy, admiration, and satisfaction, and serves as an inspiration for us to endeavor to advance crucial sectors of our economy and society, drawing on the outcomes and triumphs that Vietnam has realized," stated Ambassador Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen.
