In his remarks, Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Minh Hung highlighted the significance of the Moncada Barracks attack, led by Fidel Castro and over 130 young Cuban patriots.

The event brought the revolutionary struggle for the Cuban people and the entire Latin American region against imperialism, in defense of national sovereignty, and pursuit of social justice and progress.

The official emphasized that the friendship exchange was an opportunity to revisit the historic event that opened a new era of development for the Cuban revolution. He noted that the enduring bond between Vietnam and Cuba, particularly between the people of Hai Duong and Cuba, continues to be strengthened through such exchanges.

He further expressed hope that all people, especially the younger generation, would gain a deeper understanding of the importance of strengthening the Vietnam-Cuba friendship, ensuring that this legacy endures and thrives in the generations to come.

Deputy Ambassador of Cuba to Vietnam Joy Puentes Saldise noted that, unlike previous years, the Cuban Embassy did not organize any commemorative activities this year. This decision was made out of respect, as both Cuba and Vietnam are observing a period of national mourning for the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a great friend of the Cuban people.

For his part, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Ngoc Hung highlighted the deep bond between the peoples of Vietnam and Cuba, despite the geographical distance. He emphasized that the two countries have supported and assisted each other through difficult times.

The people of Vietnam will forever remember the warm solidarity, invaluable support, and selfless assistance extended by the Cuban Party, State, and people towards Vietnam’s revolutionary cause.
