Da Nang Gets Ready To Host The 13th ASEAN School Games
On the morning of March 22, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son chaired a working session with the People's Committee of Da Nang city on the preparation and organization of the upcoming ASEAN School Games 2024.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Le Trung Chinh stressed the determination to deliver this important task. Recently, the City People's Committee and other departments and branches have coordinated with the Ministry's working group to check the locations and service equipment for organizing competitions for 6 sports, accommodations and opening and closing ceremonies.
Da Nang has basically prepared the appropriate facilities, locations, training and competition equipment, as well as sanitation, food safety, security and logistics. The city has proactively developed plans to organize accommodation for delegations of athletes.
According to Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong, Da Nang not only prepare sufficient accommodations but also meet security conditions and organize transportation of athletes to competition venues. The guests will stay in the areas nearyby the center. The city has directed the Department of Tourism to work with hotels, asking for support in room rental prices, creating the best conditions for the event preparation.

In his remarks, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son appreciated the spirit of sharing and responsibility of the People's Committee of Da Nang City and relevant ministries and branches. He hope they continue to support each other so that the plan operates in the best way.
The 13th ASEAN School Games 2024 takes place close to the time of the 10th grade entrance exam and high school graduation exam. Therefore, the Ministry and localities need to calculate and develop organizational plans to both facilitate the tourism activities as well as other and to ensure that the exams take place safely, seriously and according to regulations.
“The event welcomes about 1,500 athletes. If you include the number of accompanying people, it is about 3,000 people. However, the organization is highly complex because the athletes are students with cultural diversity. Ensuring security, safety, support and guidance are top priorities," the Minister noted.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Le Trung Chinh affirmed that the successful organization of this event will continue to promote the image of not only Da Nang City but also of the country, of Vietnamese people and its historical traditions, cultural identity and achievements in all aspects.
Thereby, the event will strive to introduce to Southeast Asian students to the local education system, physical education movements, and sports. This also helps create conditions for Vietnamese students to integrate into regional student sports levels. Da Nang City determines to best implement the presiding tasks and proactively connect coordinated tasks. Da Nang City's budget to organize the event is expected to be more than VND 7.4 billion (about US $299,000) while the State's budget is more than VND 3.1 billion.
The event will be held from May 31 to June 9, 2024, in Da Nang city with the participation of 10 countries from Southeast Asia. With the slogan "Connect and shine", the competition will connect students from Southeast Asian countries allowing them to show off their talents and unite the Southeast Asian generation for strong integration and development. The symbol of this event is a dragon's eye, while the mascot is a brown-shanked douc langur. There are 107 events for 6 sport categories: athletics, swimming, basketball, badminton, Vovinam martial arts, and Pencak-Silat. |
