Da Nang Marks International Day of Yoga with Mass Performance

The program was jointly held by the municipal Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Da Nang, and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam.

It saw the participation of more than 1,500 people who are members of yoga clubs and yoga lovers in Da Nang and its adjacent localities, along with yoga experts and teachers, and foreigners in the central city.
Permanent Deputy Secretary of the city Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh said the event has contributed to promoting Da Nang’s image, adding over the past years, the celebration has seen increasing numbers of participants, and more yoga centers have been opened in the city, contributing to spreading the exercise habit.
President of the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Ngoc Binh stressed the importance of people-to-people diplomacy, saying such activities have helped local residents and foreigners understand each other, thus promoting Da Nang as a beautify, dynamic and worth-living place.
He described the performance as a practical activity that has played a part in enhancing friendship, cooperation and cultural exchange between Vietnamese, particularly Da Nang residents, and Indians as well as international friends.

It has also contributed to materializing the Vietnam-India joint vision for peace, prosperity and people, he continued.
Indian Ambassador Sandeep Arya said he was delighted to see many women participating in the performance, explaining that the International Yoga Day 2024 takes the theme of “Yoga for Women Empowerment.”
According to the diplomat, activities are being held in at least 35 Vietnamese localities to observe the International Day of Yoga.
Every year on June 21, people worldwide celebrate International Day of Yoga to promote the numerous benefits of practicing yoga. This special day coincides with the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about the holistic advantages that yoga offers for our well-being. It emphasizes the importance of finding balance in the fast-paced lives and encourages harmony in physical, mental, and spiritual aspects.
The theme “Yoga for Women Empowerment” prioritizes the physical and mental well-being of women.
