Da Nang-Vietnam finishes 7th in Clipper Round the World Yacht Race
(VNF) - Da Nang-Vietnam has finished seventh out of 12 teams competing in the 10th edition of the world’s longest ocean race, the Clipper 2015-16 Round the World Yacht Race.
The Vietnamese-sponsored yacht, skippered by Australia’s Wendy Tuck, ranked eighth in round 14.
A delegate of Da Nang officials, led by Vice Mayor Dang Viet Dung and H.E. Nguyen Van Thao, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK was at the St Katharine Docks (London) to welcome the team. They also hosted a conference to promote Da Nang tourism in London.
Da Nang-Vietnam joined the race for the first time with a crew of 59 sailors, including Da Nang native Nguyen Tran Minh An, 27 years old.

Da Nang, the Vietnamese city, was a first-time Team Sponsor in this year’s race.
The Danang – Vietnam yacht represented the central Vietnamese coastal city and the debut entry was supported by local business partners and regional government.
The city aims to benefit from the race’s high profile global platform to boost international trade, investment, economic impact and tourism, along with enhanced social, cultural and diplomatic relations, according to Huynh Duc Tho, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee.
Da Nang has connected with investors, tourism representatives and travel agencies at events in different countries along the race route to promote tourism and investment in the city.

LMAX Exchange, skippered by Frenchman Olivier Cardin, was confirmed as the winner, followed by Derry-Londoderry-Doire, Great Britain, Garmin, Qingdao, Mission Performance.
The Clipper 2015-16 Race departed London on 30th August 2015 and visited 14 different ports in 10 different countries during the race series. Da Nang was a Host Port for the crew during the South East Asia stopover in February 2016.
