Frederiksen posted a photo from the wedding on her Facebook page with only the word “ja” - Danish for yes — and a heart. The picture shows the smiling newlyweds coming out of the church, according to APP News.

Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet called the couple’s nuptials as “a secret wedding” since there were only some invited guests attend, including former Danish Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen.

Frederiksen was sworn in as Denmark’s youngest-ever prime minister on June 27, 2019, becoming the second woman to hold the position, added AP News.

She put off her and Tengberg’s wedding last year because of the June 5 national election that ended up putting her Social Democratic Party in charge of a minority government. Then, in early this year, the couple had to postpone their wedding for the second time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last month, she announced she would need to reschedule her wedding a second time because it conflicted with a European Union summit.

“I am really looking forward to marrying this fantastic man,” Frederiksen wrote in a Facebook post alongside a photo of herself and her fiance Bo.

“But obviously it can’t be that easy, and now there is a council meeting in Brussels called, exactly on that Saturday in July when we had planned to marry,” she wrote.

The extraordinary European Council meeting will take place on 17 and 18 July in Brussels with the participation of the 27 heads of the member states, which was decided last week at a virtual meeting. It will be the first summit where the leaders will actually be present since the coronavirus lockdown began months ago, reported the Gulf News.

During the meeting, leaders are set to discuss a recovery plan in response to the COVID-19 crisis and a new EU budget.

Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen got married to Eric Harr in 2003 and had two children together, but they got divorced. She first met director Tengberg in 2014. The couple was seen to go with each other at the funeral of former Prime Minister Anker Jorgensen in 2016.
