In his opening remarks, Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz stated that the contest was organized to mark the 53rd anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark. Since its first launch in 2016, the contest has become an annual event with new themes each year, focusing largely on environmental issues.

With the theme "Green Initiatives," this year's contest encourages students to learn more about environmental and climate challenges. At the same time, it provides a platform for them to share their initiatives, thoughts, and visions on how to protect the environment, and natural resources.
The contest is an opportunity for contestants to unleash their imagination and bring green initiatives on biodiversity, energy saving, green energy, emission reduction, green living habits, plastic-free living, wildlife protection, and more to life on their paintings.

According to Ambassador Nicolai Prytz, although Vietnamese children expressing their green initiatives through paintings may not immediately bring about decisive changes, it is certainly a way for them to express their thoughts and concerns. Through this, they send a message to adults about how they perceive climate challenges and what we can do together to improve the situation.
"I am eager to see the creative ideas of Vietnamese children through their wonderful paintings. We always appreciate and value your ideas," said Ambassador Nicolai Prytz.
Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, principal of Nguyen Sieu School, said that with the theme "Green Initiatives," she hopes that students will send a message about protecting the planet. This will help students make practical contributions to the current environmental restoration efforts. She also sent her best wishes to the students, hoping that each of them will create their own creative products, spreading the message of environmental protection to friends, relatives, and beyond, so that this message can be widely disseminated throughout the community.

According to Le Ngoc Tuan, vice chairman of the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association, this year's theme is even more meaningful in the context of Denmark and Vietnam working together to protect the green planet from serious challenges such as climate change, environmental pollution, and biodiversity loss. The recent severe consequences of Typhoon Yagi in Vietnamese provinces and cities are clear evidence of these challenges.
Through the contest, he sent a message to the students - the future owners of the country and the planet, that creating green initiatives, no matter how small, can contribute to environmental protection. He encouraged students to freely create based on their understanding of the planet, of the cooperative efforts between Vietnam and Denmark to address environmental, and climate challenges.
The competition is open to all Vietnamese students, from both primary and secondary schools. The deadline for submissions is December 20. Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the end of the school year 2024-2025 in Hanoi.
The jury board of the competition will consist of prestigious painters from Kim Dong Publishing House and Thieu nien tien phong (Young Pioneers) and Nhi Dong (Children) newspapers, representatives from the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association (VIDAFA), and the Embassy of Denmark.
There will be one grand prize, two first prizes, three second prizes and six third prizes. The grand prize winner will be awarded with a tablet and a set of LEGO toys.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will also win LEGO, while there will be 50 encouragement prizes for individuals and two groups will receive the organizers’ awards.
