Dong Nai's Ethnic Chinese People Received Tet Gifts
The Vietnam - China Friendship Association in Dong Nai province presents gifts Hoa (ethnic Chinese) people at Thanh Binh commune, Trang Bom district, Dong Nai province.

The Vietnam - China Friendship Association of Dong Nai province (under the Dong Nai Union of Friendship Organizations) in collaboration with the People's Committee of Thanh Binh commune held a ceremony to extend Tet greetings and present 100 gifts to the Chinese-Vietnamese community living in the commune.

According to Bui Quang Huy, president of the Dong Nai's Vietnam - China Friendship Association, 100 gifts worth over VND 50 million (USD 2,200) were mobilized by the association from its members and the Chinese community in Bien Hoa City.

The gifts sent for the upcoming traditional Lunar New Year, although of small value, carry a lot of affection from the members of the association, and show their care, sharing, and contribution to help disadvantaged households enjoy the New Year.

The Vietnam - China Friendship Association in Dong Nai province was established in 2018. In recent years, besides people-to-people diplomatic activities, the association has a lot of activities for the community.

When the fourth Covid-19 outbreak broke out, the association mobilized and donated over VND 100 million (USD 4,400) for the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund, and 100 tons of rice for people in isolated areas.

Every year for the traditional New Year, the friendship association visits and encourages members and disadvantaged families in the province.

Last week, 337 Tet gifts were presented to children orphaned by the pandemic in Dong Nai at a ceremony held by the provincial Fatherland Front Committee and sponsors.

A total of 79 gifts were donated by the Korea Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (KOCHAM), while the rest was funded by other sponsors.

The total cost for the program was VND 200 million (USD 8,830), funded by organizations of the RoK Trade and Industry Association.

Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City's Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai on Jan. 19 led a delegation of the city’s officials to extend Tet greetings to the Chinese-Vietnamese community.

He thanked the Chinese-Vietnamese community in the city for their contribution to the city’s development, especially in the fight against Covid-19 and welfare activities supporting the disadvantaged.

He wished the Chinese-Vietnamese community in HCM City a safe and joyful Tet break and to help work toward socio-economic recovery.
