During the past term, the Union held interesting activities, contributing significantly to provincial development of political, cultural, trade and economic relations; helped maintain and strengthen the friendship between international friendship associations and Vietnamese friendship associations.
The Union currently has nine member associations, ten chapters, three French clubs and eight provincial Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association's branches in eight border communes.
It has played a key role in people's external relations in the fields of friendship, cooperation, mobilisation and management of foreign non-governmental aid, information and communication for foreign affairs.
It has welcomed, exchanged and worked with 97 international delegations (about 2.447 foreign guests from many countries); provided free medical check-ups and treatment for more than 6.700 poor people in Cambodia’s Pray Veng province, etc.
It established and maintained relations with many localities and foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in other countries. Since 2015, almost 230 projects have been funded by foreign NGOs with a total committed value of over VND 111 billion (USD 4.8 million).
In the coming time, the Dong Thap Union of Friendship Organizations will continue to innovate and promote its achievements, operating under the motto "initiative, flexibility, creativity and efficiency"; enhancing peace advocating activities, solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the people of other countries; consolidating traditional relationships and broadening the partnership; strengthening the friendship and cooperation exchanges between the people of Dong Thap province and international friends; promoting the image of Vietnamese people in general and the province in particular; closely coordinating with social and political organisations as well as provincial departments and branches.
The congress elected a 35-member executive board for the 2019-2024 term with Le Xuan Hai, re-elected as its President./.
