Embassy Works to Support Vietnamese Firms Do Business in Brunei
The Vietnamese Embassy in Brunei on March 2 organized a meeting and exchange with Vietnamese businesses operating in Brunei, with the participation of Ambassador Tran Anh Vu, representative agency officials and leaders of Vietnamese firms in the fields of trade, service, cuisine, manufacturing and construction.
At the meeting, representatives of those business introduced their operations and business situation in Brunei, including the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A number of businesses have actively connected and brought Vietnamese products into the Brunei market such as fruits, coffee, handicrafts, textiles, to name a few, although the turnover is not large, they have made a practical contribution to trade between the two countries. two countries and promote Vietnam's image in the area.

Businesses made many recommendations and proposals on strengthening cooperation and linkages to improve business efficiency as well as the role and voice of the Vietnamese business community in the area.
A number of ideas were proposed, discussed and received support such as strengthening coordination in organizing promotional activities, introducing and providing products and services of Vietnamese enterprises; exchanging experiences and information about business opportunities and support in solving difficulties regarding residence, business, and labor use conditions; promoting link and mutual support between businesses and Vietnamese community in Brunei; holding annual meetings between businesses and the embassy.
Ambassador Tran Anh Vu shared with businesses about the progress in bilateral relations between Vietnam and Brunei, especially the official visit to Brunei by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in February 2023, along with opportunities for bilateral cooperation in priority areas such as oil and gas, energy, Halal, tourism, with some specific results achieved recently.
Vietnam - Brunei trade turnover, after declining in 2023, has shown signs of recovery, two-way trade in January 2024 increased two times compared to the same period in 2023.
Vu affirmed that Vietnamese businesses play the role of a trade bridge and contribute to promoting Vietnam's image, growth potential and cooperation with Brunei partners. Some businesses such as PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Services Corporation (PVD), Hai Duong Petroleum and Marine Corporation (HADUCO), among others, have stepped up their access to the Brunei market and won important service provision contracts in the area. Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises, although still limited in number and scale, and greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, have made efforts to hold on and gradually recover.
In the coming time, the Vietnamese Embassy in Brunei supports and will support the efforts of Vietnamese businesses to strengthen links and cooperation towards becoming a more dynamic, united and effective business community in locality.
The Embassy will continue to propose to the authorities of the two countries to pay attention to creating favorable conditions, protecting legitimate interests and removing difficulties of Vietnamese businesses in Brunei, especially related to labor issues, business conditions, residence, access to resources.
At the same time, the embassy will promote and introduce the image of the country, people, products and goods of Vietnam, connecting Vietnamese businesses in the area with Brunei businesses and domestic businesses to concretize opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in priority economic and trade fields.
