England head to Rome for the next step in their bid to win Euro 2020 as they take on Ukraine on Saturday.
A 2-0 win over Germany, their first in a tournament knockout stage since the 1966 World Cup Final, has the county once again dreaming, with Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane dispatching the old foes in front of 41,000.
Playing away from Wembley for the first time in the tournament, it’ll be all eyes on the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday night, with the winner taking on be Czech Republic or Denmark for a place in the Final.
Date, kick-off time and venue
England vs Ukraine is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off on Saturday, July 3, 2021. The match will be held at Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Ukraine (TBA) eliminated Sweden in the Round of 16 after one hell of a battle that saw extra times and a last-minute goal just before the penalties. Artem Dovbyk was the scorer, becoming a hero of the entire country.
As said before, this unit likes to attack, which is why their games often witness goals on both ends of the pitch. In the previous 10, seven ended with this outcome, with Ukraine posting four wins, four draws, and two defeats during the entire stretch.
Andriy Yarmolenko, Roman Yaremchuk, and Man City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko are the most prominent names of this unit. Still, all of them are properly upgraded with numerous youngsters, many of them being the former U20 World Cup champions.
England (TBA) defeated Germany in the Round of 16, breaking a curse that lasted for a long, long time. The eruption of joy in the stands was unbelievable and one of the most beautiful pictures in recent years, practically since the COVID-19 madness started.
This was yet another victory without an allowed goal for the English side, their eight in the past 10 matches. When we add that the Three Lions also recorded a 0-0 draw against Scotland, we conclude that Gareth Southgate‘s side allowed just one goal in 900 minutes of play, which is extremely impressive.
There isn’t any beauty in their performances, but strict and rigid tactics instead. England doesn’t have the quality to dictate the tempo and the style of play, which is why they decide to wait for the opponent’s mistake or hit on a counter-attack. It is no wonder why Raheem Sterling scored three goals in the tournament so far.
Ukraine team squad
Goalkeepers: Andriy Pyatov, Andriy Lunin, Heorhiy Bushchan, Anatoliy Trubin

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson, Mason Mount, Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice
Forwards: Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling
For England, Jack Grealish was once again instrumental and will be hoping his cameo against Germany will be enough to earn him a start.
Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane’s spots a guaranteed, so will it mean another change of shape to boost the attack? Gareth Southgate reverted to a back three, to success, at Wembley but could be tempted to switch back to a four to accommodate another forward.
Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice were again impressive but both picked up yellow cards, leaving them in danger of missing any semi-final with another booking. Jordan Henderson could come in.
England are yet to concede a goal and, one Thomas Muller chance aside which they inflicted upon themselves, have rarely looked like doing so after four games.
Ukraine toiled for a further 30 minutes on Tuesday night, and looked exhausted before that.
England have enough in them to hold their opponents’ at arm’s length and pick them off.
On the program is next football match of World Championship 1 (Women). Match starts at 12:00 and we will see the duel between girls from Ukraine and England. It will be nice match today. So Ukraine is actually on the 3rd place with 10 points. They have rather good form this year, same wins like losses. Their opponents will be girls from England are actually leaders of Group 6 standing on first placee with 21 points. Last 5 matches = 5 wins. Important here is last mutual match month ago when England won clearly 4-0. Now it will be same or maybe more goals. My bet here is England to win with 2-0 EH. Good luck!
Head to Head Matches
Ukraine and England last played in World Cup qualifiers back in 2012 and 2013. The first leg in London saw a draw, 1-1. There were no winners in Ukraine as well, with the game ending without goals.
