Exhibition On Vietnam – Russia Ties On Display In Hanoi

Nearly 200 photos and documents on Vietnam – Russia friendship are on display an exhibition which opens in Hanoi from Nov. 25, aiming to educate military personnel and people, particularly youth, reported CPV online newspaper.
The event showcases Russia’s significant, timely and effective support for Vietnam’s fight for independence and national construction in the past as well as the win-win cooperation between the two nations’ parties, governments, parliaments, and localities.
The bilateral defence collaboration, regarding military engineering, trade, human resources training, and weapon supply, among others, is a highlight of the exhibition.

Notable artifacts on display include the volunteer application form by Lieutenant Colonel Nikolai Petrovich of the Soviet army sent to the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence wishing to go to Vietnam to fight against the US on Dec. 3, 1966; and a Konvas camcorder produced by the Soviet Union and provided for Vietnam in 1963 for filming documentaries about the nation's resistance war against the US.
Visitors to the event, which will last until Dec. 5, are required to seriously follow Covid-19 prevention and control measures.

The event coincides with an official visit to Russia of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
President Phuc, his spouse, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow on Nov. 29 afternoon (local time), according to VNA.
The bilateral political relationship has been continuously consolidated, reflected through the regular exchange of high-level delegations.
Economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has also been developed dynamically in recent years. Two-way trade reached USD 4.85 billion in 2020, up 9% year-on-year. It hit USD 3.6 billion in the first nine months of this year, up 5% against the same period of 2020.
As of April 2021, Russian had ranked 25th among countries and territories investing in Vietnam with 144 projects worth USD 944 million. Meanwhile, Vietnam had invested in over 20 projects worth nearly USD 3 billion in Russia.
During the visit, President Phuc is scheduled to hold talks and meetings with leaders of the Russian State and the State Duma. He will also meet with representatives from the Russia-Vietnam friendship organisations, attend a Vietnam-Russia business forum and visit a number of local firms.
