Expand Network to Promote people-to-people Exchanges Between Vietnam and France
According to the association's draft report summarizing its work in the 2016-2023 term, its organization and activities were limited in quantity and quality. Meanwhile, it did not bring into full play the potential of Vietnam - France relations.
In the coming term, the Association will expand and develop its work in the key areas of cooperation between the two countries such as trade, investment, tourism, culture, and society. The association will actively mobilize and gather a large number of Vietnamese organizations and individuals who have been living, studying, and working in France, who love and wish to contribute to promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Through the activities of the association and its members, cooperation activities between the Association, its member organizations, and their French partners contribute to consolidating the solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding between people of the two countries; further developing the cooperation between localities of the two countries; making good use of the support of the French people for VIetnam's cause of economic, cultural and social construction and protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the sea and islands.

In her remarks, Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations suggested the Association take advantage of the strengths and exploit the potential of the two countries for cooperation in various fields, such as investment, trade, education, health, culture, science, and technology.
She suggested the Association actively coordinate with the France-Vietnamese Friendship Association, other people's associations in France, and friendship associations with Vietnam in European countries to continue building, consolidating, and developing a network of partners and friends of Vietnam. It should also coordinate with French partners and friends to promote French language and culture education in Vietnam and Vietnamese language and culture in France; strengthen cooperation in cultural, education, and training of lecturers, and doctors within the framework of activities of the Francophone to which the two countries are members.
Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga suggested the Association focus on developing the network of local associations and units, attracting the participation of young people, focusing on information and propaganda work, and applying information technology to spread information about Vietnam to the French people, especially the young generation.
According to French Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolas Warnery, over the past 50 years, Vietnam-France relations have developed strongly in many fields and levels: politics, diplomacy, local cooperation, and cooperation between hospitals, universities, businesses, and people. Vietnam - France Friendship and Cooperation Association has significantly contributed to those achievements.
In 2023, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the French Embassy in Vietnam will organize various activities: scientific seminars, economic forums, food fairs, French product introduction, and photo exhibition. These activities contribute to promoting people-to-people exchanges and enhancing mutual understanding between the two peoples.

The Congress elected a new Executive Board of 50 members. Nguyen Thuy Anh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, and Chairman of the National Assembly's Social Committee was elected to hold the position of the Association's Chairman.
On this occasion, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations awarded the medal "For peace and friendship among nations" to two individuals, and awarded certificates of merit to a group and four individuals who made significant contributions for Vietnam-France people-to-people diplomacy from 2016 to 2022. Vietnam - France Friendship and Cooperation Association awarded certificates of merit to eight units and ten individuals who made positive contributions in the past term.
Four focus of Vietnam - France Friendship and Cooperation Association for the 2023-2028 tenure - Continue to exchange delegations, expand the network of friends and partners in France to promote people-to-people cooperation between the two countries; continue to actively mobilize French friends and partners to contribute to Vietnam's cause of economic, social, and cultural development as well as the sovereignty, sea and islands issues. - Organize on-site friendship activities with more diverse forms; focusing on priority areas in the bilateral relations, including responding to/participating in major events of the bilateral relations and in the framework of the Francophonie. - Expand and develop the Association, focus on restoring the member units that have not been active in the past time, and develop new units, attract young people at French language training institutions and businesses that cooperate with France; - Continue to inform and propagate the Association's work and the Vietnam-France cooperation relationship; strengthen coordination and direct communication with partners. |
