The pre-marital education program named "Korean Culture Experience Program" is a special project of the Vietnam-Korea Cultural Exchange Center (KCCC). The program aims to support Vietnamese brides who have completed the legal marriage procedures and are waiting for a visa to Korea.
KCCC is a Korean NGO, licensed by the Government of Vietnam with Operation License No: AT553/UB-HD. The Center's operational objectives are to assist Vietnam in community development, poverty alleviation, education, and cultural exchange between the two countries. In the trend of increasing Vietnamese- South Korean marriage, over the past 10 years, the Center has assisted Vietnamese brides.
According to Sim Sang Joon, director of the Center, as of December 2021, with the financial support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Samsung Electronics, Everon Company, the center has trained more than 1,500 people. They come from all over the country: Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa to Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh City.
The brides are all young people, aged between 18 and 25. After the course, they reunited with their husband's family, who are now living in Korea, from Seoul to Jeju Island.
Sim Sang Joon said that most Vietnamese brides after completing the course have a happy family life in South Korea. The reason why the brides can quickly adapt to their new life is thanks to the special education program that the Center has provided.
The program has invited excellent Vietnamese and Korean lecturers with high expertise and enthusiasm. The instructors can use both Korean and Vietnamese fluently. The relationship between lecturers and students as well as between students is as close as a family.
The program has a variety of subjects including etiquette, parenting skills, South Korean history, geography and Vietnam-Republic of Korea relations, health care, and cooking Korean dishes. The Center has provided students with the most basic knowledge about the country and people of Korea, where Vietnamese brides will come to live, become wives, mothers and RoK citizens.

The program has 1 month/class, each class recruits about 25 to 30 students, who study during the day. In the evenings, the Center also sends counselors to advise on the problems that students are facing. During the course, the brides not only get to study, eat and stay for free but also enjoy a trip to visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, historical and cultural sites around Hanoi.
After moving to the Republic of Korea to live, Vietnamese brides continue to contact KCCC's staff by phone or Email to promptly solve problems in life. Every year, the Center also sends a delegation to Korea to visit some students' families during the summer vacation.
Although the program is short, it is very useful for the life of Vietnamese-RoK multicultural families.
Over the past 10 years, the Vietnam-Korea Cultural Exchange Center (KCCC) has trained more than 1,500 students from all over the country. |
In the past two years, due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, travel between the two countries faced many difficulties. However, in the future, Vietnam-Korea relations will continue to expand. The expansion of the above program is useful to minimize possible negative impacts on the friendly relations of the two countries.
