Jointly held by the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs and the RoK Consulate General, the festival is an important cultural and diplomatic event marking the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two countries (December 22, 1992).

An opening ceremony is slated for September 1 night, and there will be an array of activities within the festival featuring taekwondo martial artists, traditional Korean dress – Hanbok, and folk games of the two countries.

More than 40 booths have been set up by domestic organisations and agencies and Korean organisations and businesses to introduce Vietnamese and Korean cuisines and consumer goods, among others.

A special art programme will be held for three nights, highlighting culture and arts of the two countries. The event saw the participation of 50 artists from the Korea Central Exchange Association (KCEA).

Director of the department Huynh Duc Truong said the festival was intended to enhance mutual understanding and cultural exchange between Vietnam and the RoK, and deepen the friendship between Da Nang and Korean localities and partners.

The Vietnamese People Association in the RoK will also organise the 10th Vietnamese culture festival in Seoul on September 4.

The festival will be held under the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK to celebrate the 77th National Day of Vietnam and the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam-RoK diplomatic relations this year.
