First classical musician performing on all seven continents to come to Hanoi

The concert will take place on October 10, at the Hanoi-based Vietnam National Academy of Music.

This will be the second time that Rafael Serrallet, who in 2018 already became the first classical musician to perform on all seven continents including Antarctica, performs for guitar lovers in Vietnam.

On this occasion, Rafael Serrallet’s guitar performance will immerse the Vietnamese public in a mysterious and magical world of History and Spanish deeds, from the first circumnavigation around the globe in the 16th century, to the music of the 18th-20th centuries.

In 2019 Spain celebrates the V Centenary of the first expedition around the world of Fernando de Magallanes and Juan Sebastián Elcano, an event declared of public interest by the Government of Spain.

The first part will be a tribute to the first quarter of the 16th century, and to this Spanish expedition that departed from Sanlúcar de Barrameda with a long and incredible journey in mind and later ended up being the first documented circumnavigation around the world.

The repertoire of this part will be a musical fantasy based on the works from the expedition member’s country of origin, among them The Almain (German dance), Gallardes, Bransles (France), Canaries (Spain), Calate, Saltarello and Pavana (Italy), Portuguese melodies and the favorite song of the King Carlos I of Spain and V of Germany, Mille Regretz. Two religious hymns about the Virgin Mary will be played at the beginning and end of this first part.

The program will continue with the second repertoire that includes outstanding works for guitar from the 18th-20th centuries, such as Contradanza de los currutacos by F. Ferandiere (1771-1816), Fandango Variado by D. Aguado (1784-1849), Bolero by J. Arcas (1832-1882), A ma mie by AG Obregón (1877 – 1922), Dance 5 by E. Granados (1867-1916), Junto al Generalife by J. Rodrigo (1901 – 1999) and En los trigales by J. Rodrigo./.
