About 30 children have registered to join the class and they will be pided into two classes based on their ages and the results of their input test. 80 per cent of the students are children of Vietnamese women who married foreigners, the remaining are children of staff of Vietnamese agencies and companies there.
Initially, the classes will open one session per week on Saturday, and textbooks will be brought from Vietnam, which were compiled under the program of Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training.
There are two main teachers. In addition, there are six teachers, who are member of the Vietnamese Women’s Club, ready to teach. All teachers volunteer to teach free of charge.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Pham Cao Phong appreciated effort of the Vietnamese Women Club, especially the women directly involved in preparing the classes over the past year.
The Ambassador stressed that teaching Vietnamese language to children of the Vietnamese community is not only about teaching the mother tongue, but also teaches Vietnamese culture to help them connect with the homeland and become a bridge to further develop relations between Vietnam and Malaysia./.
