First Vietnamese coach nominated for the world futsal award

Coach Pham Minh Giang guided the Thai Son Nam club to win a double of titles in the 2020 season with the championships in the National Futsal League and the National Futsal Cup. Giang is also the head coach of the Vietnam National futsal team, Baotintuc reported.
Besides, Thai Son Nam also clinched third place at the 2019 AFC Futsal Club Championship.
With these achievements, Giang has been nominated as one of the world's 10 best futsal coaches 2020 by the prestigious website FutsalPlanet.
“I feel really glad and happy when hearing the news”, Giang was quoted by Zing News, adding that this is not only an honor for him but also for Vietnamese futsal.
Other nominees in the top 10 include Andreu Alvarez (Barcelona), Nuno Dias (Sporting Clube de Portugal), Ricardinho (Magnus Futsal) and Carlos Gago (FC Chonburi).
In 2018, Thai Son Nam’s goalkeeper Ho Van Y was also named in the world’s top 10 best goalkeepers.
In 2021, the Vietnamese futsal team will strive for a slot at the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup. After many postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the AFC Futsal Championship - also the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2021 Qualifier will officially take place from March 23 to April 3, 2021, in Kuwait.
